I’m a big fan of unexpected turns and dry, observational humor. I love comedic musical theater, pop culture references, slapstick, and basic ridiculousness. I’m not a huge fan of sarcasm, pranks, or people getting hurt.
Here are some examples of my favorite comedy bits.
Bodega Bathroom is probably my favorite SNL skit of all time. Primarily because I lived in New York City for 9 years and I’m a huge fan of John Mulaney. He tends to do a lot of these NYC inside jokes that I just love.
Airport sushi is another favorite because — before they renovated LaGuardia Airport — IYKYK.
Ali Wong is another favorite. “I don’t want to lean in. I want to lie down” is one of my favorite punchlines of all time.
“Wow, you can really dance… Wow, you can really dance.” I have no idea why this makes me laugh so much, but it does.
Sophia Petrillo from the “Golden Girls” is one of my favorite TV characters of all time. She was absolutely savage in her insults. The backstory of a stroke causing Sophia to have brain damage was a genius move because it gave the writers freedom to push the envelop.
